Suffolk County to Redevelop Former Infirmary Into County Office Space

Summary

Suffolk County plans to redevelop a 66-year-old former infirmary into office space to serve three county departments. The $17 million effort is aimed at saving long-term real estate costs by housing employees in space the county owns rather than at facilities it leases.

The infirmary, located at the intersection of Yaphank Ave and Exit 67 of the Long Island Expressway, will serve the county's Environmental Quality and Public Health Protection divisions, as well as aspects of the Sheriff's Department and the county's Central Purchasing Department.
