State Sen. Brian X. Foley pledged his opposition to Gov. David Paterson's proposed "fat tax" on sugary beverages during a rally at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company Sales Center in Hauppauge on Thursday.

Foley, wearing a personalized Teamsters Local 812 jacket and standing in front of a crowd of union workers holding signs stating, "Save My Job," said that the penny an ounce tax on non-diet soda and other sugary drinks could cost the 500 workers employed at the center their jobs because it will result in less soft drink sales.
