New Report Ranks New York 45th in Small-Biz Efforts

Summary


High taxes and numerous regulations make New York one of the least favorable states in the country for small business, according to a new report.

New York placed 45th in an overall state-by-state ranking, down a notch from 44th in 2005, in the Small Business Survival Index 2006, a study published by the Small Business & Entrepreneur-ship Council, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy and lobbying organization. The study, released in October, examined public policy climates for small business and entrepreneurship around the nation.
