Summary


The Democratic Party often confuses the word "Democrat" with "democratic," and in November they may pay a price for it. How they got themselves into this delegate mess is worth looking at. It's a good lesson for future party delegates and the voters.

Once upon a time, the Democratic primaries were winner-take-all, just like the Republicans do now. It was clean and simple, and within weeks, after the bulk of the primary contests were over, the world knew who the party nominee was going to be. Occasionally there were some heated contests and the decision was made on the convention floor.
