Number of Bank Robberies in Long Island On the Increase

Summary


Last October, a man wearing sunglasses, a baseball cap and gloves passed a threatening note to a teller at an HSBC branch on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck.

The alleged culprit, Stephen Trantel, made off with about $2,000 but was later caught and arrested for robbery. He was also charged with robbing a Fleet Bank in East Rockaway.
