Summary


In 2003, Empire State Development Corp. approved nine projects on Long Island that are expected to generate more than 1,500 jobs for the region, according to ESDC officials. ESDC provides economic assistance and service to businesses to attract jobs and investment to New York.

ESDC spokeswoman Debra Wetzel said projects, which include Interpharm Holdings Inc.'s acquisition of an Arrow Electronics facility in Yaphank in November, are projected to create 277 new jobs, retain an additional 369 jobs and indirectly create another 882 jobs in ancillary companies serving those awarded ESDC benefits.
