King, Israel Discuss Budget Stalemate During Speech in Westbury

It was supposed to be a meeting where a bipartisan pair of local legislators would detail what Long Island's business community could expect from Congress in 2011. Instead, Congressmen Steve Israel and Peter King pushed their own agendas as both agreed the state of the nation's capitol was one of unrest.

"The month of December was great," said Israel, D-Huntington. "We passed several important measures in a bipartisan fashion, including 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' which I'm a strong supporter of. The months of January through March have been a total reverse of that though."
