In its early days, the Long Island Software and Technology Network was the center of the local technology scene - filling a huge gap for the region's early-stage companies at a time when an anything-seems-possible mentality prevailed. LISTnet, led by the ubiquitous Peter Goldsmith, speedily racked up members by serving as a conduit for new tech firms to find business.

Formed originally in 1997 as an arm of the Long Island Association, LISTnet soon added special-interest groups, awards programs and a technology incubator at Briarcliffe College in Bethpage.
