The Long Island Power Authority on Tuesday held its first hearing on a 2010 budget that includes a double-digit increase in alternative energy spending. But while the utility's proposals won support from solar power advocates, some criticized the plan for passing on extra costs to Long Islanders.
LIPA in its $3.7 billion proposed 2010 operating budget outlined a 37.4 percent increase in funding for energy efficiency and renewable energy programs to $73 million, including a 22 percent increase for its Solar Pioneer and Entrepreneur Programs.See the full content of this document
