Summary


Marc Lustgarten, Cablevision's former vice chairman, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1998 when little was known about this deadly disease. To help change that, Cablevision and the Dolans, along with Marc, established The Lustgarten Foundation in his honor before he died. Today, the foundation he inspired is the nation's largest private foundation dedicated solely to funding pancreatic cancer research.

"With only a 5 percent survival rate, pancreatic cancer is often considered the 'silent disease' because many times signs and symptoms go unnoticed until the cancer is in the advanced stage," said Kerri Kaplan, executive director of The Lustgarten Foundation. "The foundation's mission is to support research to find a cure, facilitate dialogue within the medical and scientific community, and educate the public about the disease."
