More than a week ago Cablevision launched the latest and so-far biggest weapon in the ongoing Internet speed war playing out throughout the country ... and getting particularly nasty on Long Island soil. The Bethpage-based media company unveiled its Ultra service, a 101 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload Internet connection at $99 a month. That means Verizon, whose FiOS service at the highest level offers 50 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up, is now in second place.
But all of this begs the question: Do you really need that kind of speed? Or is a connection like this a luxury item, and not really a necessity when it comes to the average activities you can do online.See the full content of this document
